Dr. Gwen Flanagan
Principal Dentist
Gwen is Newcastle born and bred, growing up in Cooks Hill before graduating in dentistry at Sydney University in 1987. Gwen brings years of experience, gained from practicing dentistry in Public Hospitals and Private Practice in Sydney and also working overseas in the United Kingdom (British) dental system. Gwen worked in Cobar, NSW in her own dental practice for several years before returning to her home town of Newcastle. She has spent the balance of her dental career in our great city, where she currently provides her years of experience to her patients in her own practice in Adamstown.
Working overseas was instrumental in expanding her knowledge base and adding to her repertoire of skills, also giving her greater appreciation of the great dental system and the high quality of materials available to Australians. Remote dentistry in Cobar as well as volunteer work in Nepal has added much to Gwen’s dental knowledge to benefit her patients.
Gwen has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Dental Implantology and enjoys being a member of the Australian Osseointegration Society. She works with experienced specialists and reputable implant systems, endeavouring to give the best possible results for her patients.
Gwen’s passion is to provide excellent dentistry to her patients. In keeping with this, she understands the benefit of attending regular meetings and courses to keep up to date with the advancing technologies and methods in her chosen field.
Gwen enjoys all aspects of dentistry, and this is evidenced by her friendly, caring, and thorough manner. She enjoys working with adults and children alike. Her adult patients appreciate her caring, confident dentistry and value her clear explanations of treatment plans, while her younger patients are relaxed by her calming, friendly approach.

Oral Health Therapist
Hi, I am Danielle. I am an Oral Health Therapist. I graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy. I started working for Gwen in April 2021, my role is to work closely with Gwen to provide an optimal and wide range of dental care to the patient, and to refer more complex dental treatment such as root canal therapy and crowns to Gwen.
I am trained to provide both children and adults with routine oral health care, which includes dental examinations, diagnosis, hygiene, and restorative procedures. I am passionate to assist my patients to understand and prevent dental disease and have a particular interest in working with children. I feel fortunate to be a part of the lovely team that I am working with.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. I grew up in a busy city and after I came to Australia, I love the nature and enjoy camping. I also enjoy travelling and learning about different cultures.

Front Desk Coordinator
Hi I'm Tash, and I joined Dr. Flanagan and the team in 2019. With over 25 years in the dental industry, I bring a wealth of experience to my role as Front Desk Coordinator. I also enjoy assisting chairside and helping out wherever needed. The diversity of my role and the wonderful team here make my work truly enjoyable.

General Dental Office Co-Ordinator
Hi, I'm Leesa. I joined the team at Gwendent in 2018. I have been in the dental industry for over 30 years. I am a bit of an all rounder here, my roles range from reception to sterilisation to chairside and general "Girl Friday". I am enjoying the diversity of my role as no two days are the same. In my spare time, I enjoy riding my horse (Dee) and walking my 2 dogs (Sid and Trev).

Hi, I am Zuqin (Ann), a certified dental assistant with a tenure in the dental field commencing in 2018. My professional collaboration with Dr. Gwen commenced in March 2022. I find great joy and fulfillment in my work within the dental industry.

Hello, I'm Niamh. I am currently a dental assistant but have worked previously in sterilisation for Gwen Flanagan's dentist.
I was originally born in Dubbo but have grown up in Newcastle for most of my life. For pastimes, I enjoy art and dance and am currently studying Law & Development Studies at university.
I thoroughly enjoy engaging with patients and building my knowledge in this industry to help make everyone's smiles brighter.
